Local Marcus Moore is Bringing Moore Crunch to Our Community
by Jenn Morson
Marcus Moore knew that he wanted to be able to support himself and live on his own, but as an autistic man who struggles with anxiety, he also worried that he would never be hired as a supervisor or manager. So, Marcus told his parents that he wanted to start a business. They were supportive of his dreams, and after some unsuccessful endeavors, Marcus landed on how to make pretzels taste better. After a lot of planning and hard work, Moore Crunch was born. Moore created his own recipes and flavors, and he currently makes all of his products in his home. His immediate goals for Moore Crunch include obtaining a business kitchen space as well as ordering pre-printed labels. But for Marcus, his ultimate goal is to help others achieve their business goals. “I am working on a program with my mom that will help other people like me be able to do regular things in life, but let people know we need a little more time to process,” Moore says. For Marcus, the best part of owning his own business is meeting new people. And he’s learned a lot about himself throughout this experience. “When I was in school, I was bullied all the time, and my mom [decided to homeschooled] me,” Moore says. “Because of my social

anxiety, I didn’t want to go many places, because I thought everyone would be mean to me, but that just isn’t true. I’ve learned [that] people are really nice.” Moore has also learned that owning your own business is a lot of work. Aside from creating and packaging his delicious pretzels, he even makes each label by hand. “I am happy I work hard every day for my pretzels and my customers,” Moore says. “I have also learned about making sure I keep my ingredients in stock so I have everything I need when I am ready to make more pretzels.” Moore is so glad his anxiety is getting better, but he says the next best thing about owning your own business is being able to eat all the pretzels! Moore crunch currently has five different flavors from sweet to savory including cinnamon sugar and Maryland crab. You can order any of these flavors of Moore Crunch pretzels on their website (moorecrunch.com) or use the store locator to find availability at a grocery store near you.
