Holiday Sips: Winter Cocktails for Parents Who Need a Little Cheer

Courtesy of Joel Esposito Fall opens with the one-two punch of Rosh Hashanah followed by Yom Kippur and ends with me wondering how to get rid of all the leftover Kosher wine in my liquor cabinet. This riff on the classic whiskey-based cocktail subs out traditional sweet vermouth for Manischewitz. It is sure to be a hit at your next Hanukkah party. Lehayim! MANISCHEWITZ MANHATTAN As the nights get chillier, you might be tempted to switch over your drink of choice to a stout. These winter cocktails from locals will sway you otherwise.
Ingredients: 2 oz Rye
3/4 oz Manischewitz Concord Grape Wine 2 dashes Angostura bitters Preparation: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until your arthritis screams “Oy vey!” Serve in a martini or coupe glass garnished with maraschino cherries.
