Looking for a fun way to get the family out and exploring this summer? The Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area invites you to take part in our 2025 Historic Summer Bucket List Bingo Challenge, a fresh take on summer fun that combines learning, adventure, and memory-making.

What is Chesapeake Crossroads?

The Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area is a Maryland Certified Heritage Area that celebrates the history, culture, and natural beauty of Annapolis and southern Anne Arundel County. We connect visitors and residents alike to over 60 incredible destinations , from world-class museums and historic homes to scenic parks, nature preserves, and vibrant arts centers. Whether you’re taking a walking tour of historic Galesville or colonial Annapolis , learning about maritime heritage and culture at waterfront attractions like the Capt. Salem Avery House or the Annapolis Maritime Museum , discovering Black heritage and art at the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum , or enjoying local theater and art exhibits at Maryland Hall - you’re participating in the living story of our region.

This year’s Historic Summer Bucket List Bingo Challenge is packed with sixteen standout experiences that showcase the very best of Chesapeake Crossroads. The full list of attractions is available on our website, but here' s how you can get started checking off a few items from the Bucket List! Get on the Water : Take a sail on the skipjack Wilma Lee or rent a kayak when you visit the Annapolis Maritime Museum to learn about life on the Bay. Take a Hike : Walk the trails at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary , and immerse yourself in nature and learn about indigenous peoples along the Patuxent River. Go to the Beach : Dip your toes in the water to enjoy a majestic view of the Chesapeake Bay at Elktonia Beach . Sandy Point , Ft. Smallwood and Beverly Triton Park are busy on weekends, but are great options on weekdays if you want to beat the crowds. Dig into history : Discover archaeological treasures from across the Heritage Area by lending a hand at an Anne Arundel County Archaeology Lab - kids welcome and no experience necessary! Care about Nature : Learn about environmental science at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center campus. Discover new things through Art and Pay : For family friendly workshops, programs, and exhibits, check out the Chesapeake Children's Museum or the C hesapeake Arts Center . Have a Revolutionary good time at Historic London Town and Gardens where a colonial era seaport comes to life through living history and interactive exhibits. Each activity gives you a chance to explore, learn, and engage with local history in fun and meaningful ways.
