Letter From the Publisher

CHANGE

It’s a word that often makes us pause, perhaps even recoil, as we consider what it might mean for our lives. We like our routines, our familiar places, and the comfort of knowing what tomorrow holds. But what if I told you that change, even when it’s unexpected or difficult, can be a gift in disguise? This month, while editing this issue of The Motherlode , I found myself reflecting on the many seasons of change I’ve walked through—some welcomed, others forced upon me. Each one brought its share of uncertainty, but also new opportunities for growth, creativity, and connection. When I became a mother, I feared losing the independence I had cherished. Instead, I discovered depths of love and resilience I never imagined. When I moved back to Annapolis and switched careers TWICE, I was terrified of starting over. However, it led me to a place where I could use my voice and passions in ways that mattered. Change has a way of reshaping us—sometimes gently, sometimes like a storm. It teaches us what we’re capable of, reveals what truly matters, and pushes us to dream bigger. It’s a reminder that we are always evolving, always learning. And while it can be uncomfortable, it often opens doors we didn’t even know were waiting for us. So, as you turn the pages of this issue, I invite you to think about the changes in your life. What have they taught you? How have they helped you grow? Let’s embrace the unknown with courage and a sense of possibility. This could be as simple as trying the activities or food you read about in this magazine. You may discover new things about our amazing town that inspire you! Change isn’t just inevitable—it’s a force for renewal and transformation. And who knows? Your next chapter might just be your best one yet. Warmly,
