The Motherlode July 2025

Our recommendation: The “Richwich” made of beef, turkey, and sausage. ANNAPOLIS SMOKEHOUSE AND TAVERN (ANNAPOLIS) This SOFO (South Forest Drive) establishment pairs smoky barbecue with live music and a lively tavern atmosphere. Known for their laid-back vibes and hearty smoked meats, Smokehouse is a go-to for casual dinners, local brews, and comfort food done right. Our recommendation: Smokehouse Mac with Brisket. CHAD’S BBQ (EDGEWATER) Just off Central Ave., Chad’s is a cozy spot with big flavors. Their slow-smoked meats and scratch-made sides make it a popular pick for BBQ purists and locals alike. The friendly service and warm, casual setting seal the deal. Our recommendation: Pickle Fries & Ranch. Whether you're chasing down pit beef or lining up for smoked brisket, these BBQ joints across Anne Arundel County bring the heat—and the flavor. Just don’t forget the napkins.

Their menu offers a little taste of every regional BBQ style, from Texas brisket to Kansas City ribs. With speedy service and consistent quality, it's an easy win for busy families. Our recommendation: All of the different sauces, but especially the Alabama White sauce. ADAM’S TAPHOUSE AND GRILLE (SEVERNA PARK & EDGEWATER) With a neighborhood feel and a big local following, Adam’s Taphouse and Grille is a great place to kick back with a plate of smoked meat and a cold drink. The menu is broad, but the in-house smoked pulled pork and ribs are what keep folks coming back. Our recommendation: BBQ by the Bay (ribs, shrimp & a crabcake). FAMOUS CHAPS PIT BEEF (GLEN BURNIE) A Baltimore legend now in Glen Burnie, Chaps is known for its smoky, thin-sliced pit beef piled high on a Kaiser roll. This no-frills spot delivers serious flavor with every bite—perfect for quick lunches, casual dinners, or satisfying a roadside BBQ craving. From ribs to pulled pork, the BBQ lineup is just as crave-worthy as the signature beef.
