The Motherlode July 2025

First, we ordered drinks. I tried the Spicy Hibiscus, a tequila-based cocktail with pineapple and habanero. It’s light, refreshing, and has just enough kick to keep things interesting. If you’re a tequila lover, don’t skip this one. Appetizers kicked off with their classic Crab Dip—hot, gooey, and served with pillowy baby naan. Great for sharing and totally photo-worthy (cheese pull alert). We also sampled a couple of oysters from their specialty list: • Smokestack: topped with crispy minced bacon and a hickory mignonette chili oil. A smoky, savory, and unforgettable experience. • Rising Dragon: bright, citrus-forward with ponzu and wasabi. Enjoy big flavor in a small bite. For mains, my wife and I couldn’t resist the house-made pasta. Everything is made in-house, which definitely impressed us.

• I went with the Creole Rigatoni —a spicy sausage dish with creamy Creole sauce that delivered bold flavor and just the right amount of heat. • My wife ordered the Lobster Pappardelle , rich and silky with tomato cream sauce, corn, asparagus, and tarragon. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente. Dessert was a must. We tried the Chocolate Mousse Cake (creamy and indulgent), the Key Lime Pie (tangy with a perfect graham crust), and our favorite—the Bourbon Bread Pudding, topped with what I dubbed the “good” vanilla ice cream . You know it when you taste it. Bottom line: Blackwall Hitch continues to impress with thoughtful service, a standout menu, and unbeatable setting. Whether you're a regular or it’s your first time, there's plenty to be excited about at this local gem.
