EXCITING AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

As parents, we are often on the hunt for things for our children to do after school. Afterschool programs create learning and social opportunities for kids, as well as giving working parents peace of mind that their children are supervised and safe in the hours between school ending and parents coming home. Here are some great programs that your kids might enjoy:
1. Martial Arts Programs, Multiple Locations Champions Martial Arts
(under new management in the Annapolis Mall) offers martial arts classes for ages 3 and up, as well as kickboxing options. Parents love their flexible membership options. East Coast Martial Arts ’ goal is to help you achieve self-discipline, high self-esteem, and a positive outlook on life and has two locations. Kwon’s offers martial arts classes that are built on the 5 tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Their afterschool programs serve kids in the Severna Park area, and they pride themselves on being a caring place that listens to the needs of the families who are a part of their community. 2. Chesapeake Arts Center, Brooklyn Park The CAC offers afterschool arts programs for AACPS students in Northern Anne Arundel County in 3rd-5th grade. Their classes include ceramics, robotics, dance, and comic book creation. Programs are offered in 4 sessions throughout the year. 3. EcoAdventures, Millersville EcoAdventures offers hands-on environmental education, and their award-winning Eco Explorers Club gives kids the chance to interact with animals and nature. They also offer a Teen Volunteer Training Program. Limited van pick-up service is provided to schools in the area. 4. Boys and Girls Clubs of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, Annapolis BGCAA's afterschool programming ensures that youth from the ages 6–18 have somewhere to go after school. They offer programs including homework assistance, career exploration, art classes, and leadership development. They serve Annapolis, Pasadena, Glen Burnie, and Severn, and their "Club on the Go" travels to reach youth in areas where there isn't a clubhouse. 5. ArtFarm, Annapolis ArtFarm offers visual arts classes to kids after school with a variety of programs including their Kids Art School program for kids ages 4-5 and 6-8, a Mixed Media Class For Introverts, and even a Beatmaking class for aspiring DJs. 6. Athletic Performance, Inc. (API), Gambrills API offers a wide variety of after school athletic clinics and classes but they aren't all just sports!
