The Motherlode Spring 2024: Women at the Helm

A trusted mentor and executive coach ... said to me, “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good.” After that epiphany, I was much more conscious about the amount of time and effort I put into tasks and always began a task with the question, “Is this something that requires perfection, or is good enough okay?” “ - Leah Paley CEO, Anne Arundel County Food Bank

My own experience with breast cancer and the limited options that I had for a root cause approach to chronic disease prompted me to expand my practice in Annapolis. That is what I can help people to achieve.

- Melissa Trotman, CRNP Owner, Vital You Functional Medicine

We are envisioning a place of healing and beauty rising up from the terrible ashes of ‘Maryland’s Hospital for the Negro Insane.’ “ - Dr. Pam Brown, PhD Executive Director, Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth & Families

I would say do not listen to the naysayers. We’re all where we are as a result of our choices. I understand that some things happened to me that were beyond my control, but in the end, I made the choice. So don’t be afraid if anybody tells you that you can’t do something. Don’t listen to that.

Shake off that imposter syndrome - you actually do rock! ... The world is larger than you realize - prioritize learning about the cultures and histories of the people walking beside you in your community, school, and at work. “ - Dr. Carol Tweed, MD Oncologist Hematologist, Maryland Oncology Hematology
