The Motherlode Spring 2024: Women at the Helm

Helping big events be sustainable and watching sustainable businesses succeed.... The success Annapolis Green is seeing in both of these areas indicates a shift in mindset; people are less willing to overlook our waste problem. They want to be part of the solution. And THIS, the behavior change, is what really gets me most excited...

If I could give my younger self advice I would remind her to be humble, follow your passion, have faith in your abilities but continue to grow, and do not allow anyone to deter you. “ - Lee Downing President, Eastport Volunteer Fire Company

- Tilly Coyle Executive Director, Annapolis Green

You can literally be anything you want and evolve and change your mind anytime. I am a lawyer/farmer/dancer/ Mom. These are all things I was never interested in until after college!

- Jessica Mendoza Uriol Owner, Wild Kid Acres

In my first career, I helped companies lead their people through change. At Welcome Home, I help people solve the everyday challenges of cooking better, having more fun, and relaxing at home. I love that I’ve created the company I always wanted to work for.

My family encouraged me to assume the role of President of Historic Annapolis in 2022, because they know I am driven, I am passionate, and I believe in the mission of the organization. Knowing that it would be a professional leap, their support has empowered me to embrace this growth opportunity and serve as a strong role model for my three boys.
