Hair Trends for 2024 By Amanda Lane
Whether you’re looking to stay on trend with the latest styles or trying to figure out how to go lower maintenance in 2024, we’ve got you covered. Although Miley Cyrus brought some serious attention to the ‘80s sky-high bouffant hairstyle during the most recent Grammy’s, luckily we have more choices than just throwing it back to the ‘80s. To get the scoop on what’s trending, we spoke with Cosmetologist Sophie Catalfo from Face It! Spa and Wellness and Stylist and Manager Natasha Siopa at Varuna Aveda Salon Spa. Natasha told us, “While being blonde and continuing with balayage are still influencing hair color, we’re also seeing a trend towards brunettes, natural grays, and more lived-in looks.” She discussed how Aveda salons take time to educate their stylists on the use of creative blending techniques and that all their colors are customizable. “We’re seeing much lower maintenance in terms of coloring these days…things like gray blending or refreshing the color that’s there, ” Natasha said. “As far as style, we’re seeing a trend with preserving the length of hair, keeping it long but adding layers or face framing. ” Sophie from Face It! reiterated that styles are trending towards “ face framing and layers, middle parts and beach waves, and treatments like scalp facials , especially in winter, to manage both dry or overly oily scalps.” Both salons offer scalp treatments by appointment. This is a fantastic treat alone or paired with another service. Natasha mentioned that clients are coming in not only for scalp treatments but also “for botanical repair strengthening treatments, which pairs well with color treatments.” If you want to play around and get bold with hairspray and 80s hairstyles, you won’t be alone. We’ll surely be seeing more of that real soon. Otherwise, dial into a low-maintenance color approach and add some more dynamic treatments to your salon experience! These are absolutely trends we can get behind!
