ABOUT THE WAR All donuts were made at the local store we bought them from. This was a blind taste test. Judges did not know where the donuts came from until after judging was complet- ed. Additionally, the order of the shops’ donuts was switched each round. Judges voted for winners in the following donut catego- ries: Glazed, Filled, Frosted and Specialty. Each judge gave each donut a rating from one to five. Afterward, the scores for each donut were added up for each cat- egory and those with the highest cumulative ratings were crowned the winners. “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t addicted to donuts. It probably started when my Mom would take me to Dunkin for a treat after shopping when I was little. The next thing I knew, I was naming tables at my wedding after doughnuts (yes, back when that was a thing). To this day, I never miss celebrating National Donut Day (the first Friday of June) or an opportunity to explore a new doughnut shop. Or maybe this was all destined as my maiden name included ‘dough.’ ” Favorite Donut: Sourcream Doughnut
I’m a lifelong carb lover and local bakery aficiona- do. I have never met a donut that I didn’t like. That being said—I’m also very discerning regarding food. Texture, flavor, consistency... It matters immense- ly when it comes to deciding which donut will be crowned the winner. Fav Donut: Old-fashioned donuts will forever be my weakness.
